Pleasant Valley Residence

We were fortunate to be brought in to collaborate with this client on their new residence outside of the city to ensure that the interior design was elevated from a formulaic suburban aesthetic. The two-story entry space was kept clean and simple with white walls, black wood accents, and oak flooring, setting the stage for the overall brightness of the interior. The stair design pairs black "pool cue" balusters with a white oak handrails and stair treads. Wire-brushed finish FSC-certified white oak flooring extends throughout the home.

For the living room space to the right of the entrance hall we selected burgundy wall color with black and white accents and velvet textures to establish an understated elegance and dramatic counterpoint to the white wall / oak floor concept. Generous kitchen, dining, and casual living room spaces were organized along the back of the residence, taking advantage of natural daylight and exterior deck space. Black-framed windows, furnishings, built-in millwork, window treatment, artwork, light fixtures, and accessories were all selected to link these three areas together. Walnut and black metal accents were selected along with floral paintings from the client's collection.

The powder room features slate blue landscape wall covering in a continuous mural installation with saturated blue accent paint and marble basketweave tile flooring.

On the second floor, the primary bedroom takes advantage of unused attic space with a vaulted ceiling. The white ceiling plane and light grey wool carpet flooring are toned down with grey-green walls, decorative bedding, and black-framed furnishings. The secondary bedroom features a denim-wash wall covering and curved motifs in the furniture and light fixture selections.
